Earlier this week, leading crypto exchange Coinbase made an announcement regarding the listing of Ethereum Classic (ETC). It said that they were working on the final components for the tests to support Ethereum Classic.

Back in June, Coinbase publicly announced its plans to list Ethereum Classic. At the time, Coinbase announced that more information would follow. Now, in the latest release, the platform has given the public a tentative date. It is about completing the tests before the official listing of the cryptocurrency.

The announcement on Twitter said:

“We expect the final tests to be completed by Tuesday, August 7th. From this point on we can accept deposits in Ethereum Classic. We want to allow these deposits through Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime for 24-48 hours before we open the deal. “

Further, Coinbase explained the impact that the new asset's support will have on various other features of the platform. These included CoinBase Custody, CoinBase Markets, CoinBase Pro, CoinBase Prime, CoinBase Asset Management and CoinBase Consumer.

According to the crypto exchange, Coinbase Custody, Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Pro are expected to support Ethereum Classic deposits and withdrawals. Coinbase Markt should also support deposits and withdrawals. There they would like to allow for 24 to 48 hours long payments through Pro / Prime, before opening the market.

Coinbase Asset Management includes every asset that the Company has listed on Coinbase Markets in the Coinbase Index. At the same time, they want to rebalance the Coinbase Index fund to reflect Ethereum Classic.

Finally, Coinbase also commented on Coinbase Consumer, the private investor platform of Coinbase. There, assets are only listed after they are listed on Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime. The platform plans to support Ethereum Classic on Coinbase Consumer as soon as enough liquidity is available. Assume that this will be the case about 1 to 2 weeks after the start of trading on Pro and Prime.

Coinbase seems to be taking big steps lately. Only in July had there been announced to examine five more crypto currencies with respect to a listing. These included Cardano (ADA), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Zcash (ZEC) and 0x (ZRX).

At the time of going to press, an Ethereum Classic had a value of just under $ 17. The market capitalization of the cryptocurrency was approximately $ 1.6 billion. This puts Ethereum Classic in 12th place on the list of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
