In March, eToro announced the acquisition of the smart contract firm Firmo to accelerate the growth of its token assets.
The Copenhagen-based startup uses a technology that enables eToro to securely provide finance contracts. At the same time, a number of blockchain platforms are supported. Among them are Ethereum, EOS and NEO.
Yato Assia, CEO and founder of eToro said:
“We believe that we will see the biggest past shift in wealth as financial services reach the blockchain. The Blockchain brings transparency and a new paradigm for the ownership of assets. Over time, we will see the tokenization of all traditional asset classes and the emergence of new asset classes such as tokenized art, property or even IP. Cryptoassets is just the first step in this journey, and we look forward to exploring the possibilities of tokenization with the introduction of our crypto-exchange. “
The newly established exchange is managed by the eToro subsidiary toTokenized Assets eToroX. This is one of the first companies certified by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission as a regulated provider of distributed ledger technologies.
The social trading platform eToro currently has 10 million registered users. These share their investment strategies so that other users can follow the approaches of successful traders and investors.
