Korea’s Cryptographic Asset Exchange, Bithumb , announced on the 19th this month that it was prosecuted from the Korean prosecutor’s office for violating the information network law .
As for Bithumb, employees’ computers were hacked in 2017, and about 31,000 customer information such as name, phone number, email address and transaction history of crypto assets were leaked.
The prosecutors believe that hackers used the stolen personal information to steal about 640 million yen worth of customer assets from the exchange.
On the other hand, Bithumb puts priority on customer protection and goes to trial, and argues that customer information leakage and damage to customer assets are not the same incident .
In addition to this one case, Bithumb suffered customer asset hacking and fraudulent remittance cases in June 18 and March 19, and its management system for protecting client assets is notable.
