The phone's cryptographic features are designed to provide a smoother user experience

Taiwanese electronics giant HTC has added new Blockchain features to its current “Exodus 1” smartphone. Basically, HTC sees his smartphone as a “Web 3.0 Blockchain” phone. So the phone concentrates on protecting the users' data and puts the blockchain at the center. The heart of the mobile phone's software is the so-called “Zion Vault”, which serves as a private wallet.

The software allows users to perform crypto transactions and view and manage cryptocurrencies and digital collectibles. Exodus 1 enables mobile phone owners to store, send and request Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, selected ERC-20 tokens and ERC-721 collectibles. The Opera Cryptobrowser also allows users to access dApps on their smartphones.

Cryptocurrency features for HTC's flagship mobile phone

Now HTC has expanded the features of its smartphone. The details were announced by the company in an article on Medium. HTC has now integrated the Kyber Network Liquidity Protocol into its Zion Vault. This allows users to exchange cryptocurrencies directly on the phone without having to leave their wallet. This creates a seamless user experience that fits the current meaning of the smartphone, HTC said.

Integration allows users to trade more than 60 large ERC-20 tokens. This is possible, for example, for the Token Cyber Network (KNC), Basic Attention Token (BAT) and Dai (DAI).

The cheap version

The Exodus 1 model costs $ 699 on HTC's website. This should be aimed at those who are willing to go for the blockchain functionality in addition to the bag.

Presumably to reach other buyer segments HTC had recently announced a cheaper version of the smartphone. This is named “Exodus 1S”. The new model is also to be expanded on the software side and act as Bitcoin Full Node. This function should also receive the flagship model. For both models the function should be available in the third quarter of 2019.

HTC's Phil Chen said:

“Full Nodes are the most important component of the resilience of the Bitcoin network. We've lowered the entry barrier so anyone can run a node … [so you] participate in the worldwide Bitcoin network and help process transactions and blocks everywhere. “

HTC intends to announce more data and the price of the new model in the coming months.
