Even though the crypto markets are currently weakening, that does not mean that the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies will not continue. This is evidenced, for example, by the fact that Skrill, the major internet payment service, has now added the cryptocurrency Ripple XRP.
Twitter has told Skrill that they now support Ripple XRP as well. This step follows many customer requests. So the company tweeted:
“We're pleased to announce that [Ripple] XRP has been added to the list of cryptocurrencies that you can buy and sell through Skrill. Thanks to everyone who asked us about Ripple. Here it is. “
However, Ripple XRP is not the first cryptocurrency supported by the platform. Ripple XRP is the number five on Skrill. Previously, the platform had already opened its users to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC).
At that time, the CEO of Skrill, Lorenzo Pellegrino, said:
“The world of cryptocurrency trading is exciting and dynamic. Our digital wallet service is ideal for this environment. I'm sure the ability to use Skrill to trade cryptocurrency quickly and easily will appeal to today's and tomorrow's consumers. “
Skrill's support for Ripple XRP is a big step for the ripple community. However, this message was not enough to positively influence the course of the cryptocurrency. At the time of going to press, Ripple XRP was at $ 0.36 and had lost nearly 2.7% in the last seven days.
Ripple XRP is currently the second largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of over $ 14.4 billion. However, the continued bear market has kept Coin from climbing back above $ 0.40.Noteworthy in connection with Ripple XRP are two more messages. In the blog I had already reported that the Crypto Coincheck again offers currency pairs with Ripple XRP. Coincheck fell victim to a hacking attack in January 2018. In this attack, NEM tokens worth approximately $ 530 million were captured. Thus, the hack went down in history as the largest crypto bug and triggered a regulatory wave for crypto exchanges in Japan.
Next, large amounts of Ripple XRP were transferred between different wallets in the last week. Within an hour, as reported in the blog, Ripple XRP with a total value of almost one billion USD moved. The reasons are still unknown. The community suspects that these were signs of purchases by large financial institutions or rerouting of Ripple Labs.
