Ripple wins new universities as a partner

Ripple Labs launched its own blockchain research initiative in June 2018. This is called “University Blockchain Research Initiative” (UBRI). Now Ripple Labs has won ten more universities for the initiative.

New colleges include the US universities of Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Morgan State, Kansas, Michigan and Northeastern. Furthermore, the University of Singapore in Singapore and the University of São Paulo in Brazil were won. In January, Ripple Labs had already teamed up with the prestigious Chinese Tsinghua University in Beijing. Altogether, Ripple Labs, according to its own information, now works together with a total of 29 universities.

With the support of Ripple Labs, universities should do research and create and publish course materials. It also wants to hold conferences and award scholarships to students who work on blockchain, cryptocurrency and similar topics.

Eric van Miltenburg, senior vice president of global operations operations at Ripple Labs, said in the in-house blog:

“In less than a year, our original UBRI partners have come full steam ahead. They have started new research projects and offered events, courses and more. Expanding the environment into an even more global and diversified network of UBRI partners will make these projects even more fruitful. “
