The three companies, the University of Tokyo, the University of Tokyo, Toyota Motor Corporation, and TRENDE Corporation, announced that they will start demonstration experiments to realize power trading using block chain technology .

TRENDE assumes that the power supply system is changing from large-scale intensive type to decentralized type with the change of the times , the price fluctuation due to the supply and demand situation of electric power, and the bidirectional self-supporting supply system for direct trading I am verifying.

In this experiment, a power exchange will be established, and an energy management system (power trading agent) using AI will be deployed at participating households and business sites. This agent will place an order to the exchange according to the consumption and power output of each home or office.

The algorithm matches these buy and sell orders at the power exchange, which makes it possible to exchange power between individuals.

The demonstration test is scheduled to be implemented in Toyota’s Fuji Research Center and surrounding area in about one year from June 17 this year.
